mission: to revive the poor colonies of bacteria in dr. cabrera's research
imagine this... all alone in a small, cold room... the only sound you could hear is the gentle humming of the airconditioning unit and the occasional flock of students looking for mang mon, "the man" in microbiology lab... surrounded by white counters and brown cupboards containing numerous wares and gadgets the purpose of which, you could never imagine... on one side of the counter, there are racks, containing about 60 test tubes each, a bunsen burner, a large book of matches, writing materials and a roll of tape... the light is hurting your eyes...
this was my world for about 2 hours... I was asked by dr. Cabrera (who is, by the way, one of dlsu's prized teachers... not a graduate of the university, but hell, she's more loyal than us students there... she's an amazing woman...) to subculture the old colonies she used in her research...
so that i did... i was halfway the first rack when i got bored... so i reached for my bag and got my celfone... i accidentally pushed the rack towards the flame of the burner... when i looked back, the cotton plugs of almost all of the tubes were on fire... now, i was normally an edgy type of person... people always accuse me of over reacting to situations... well well well.... not this time... i was surprised that i was able to keep a clear mind when this happened (although the realization came much too later)... i just blew out the flames... hard work, really... now i know how it feels like to be fifty and celebrating a birthday...
the flames extinghuished, i proceeded to make new cotton plugs for the tubes, earnestly praying that mang mon won't happen to peek into the room... then it occurred to me, maybe if by fate, i would kill a man someday, heck, i won't have a hard time covering up and getting rid of the evidences... cool yeah?!
let it be known that i, the great thelifeihate, was the one who almost burnt down de la salle university to a crisp....
(actually, there are many such unreported incidences in dlsu... ask anathema there)
so there... when i finally got back to inoculating specimens into the new broth tubes, my hands were shaking really hard... adrenaline rush is over... i was back to my old, jittery self...
it was a fun experience...
i think i might just do that again... accidentally of course...
