long post... be forewarned
SUNDAY
-
i had a pre-valentine's date with my parents (who said you need a member of the opposite sex to have a date?) at glorietta. there was a free show, featuring the bubble factory, the modern balancer, and side a. actually there was also a magic show, which came last, but we did not stay to watch it.
BUBBLE FACTORY
-
i love bubbles, so you can just imagine my excitement as i anticipated being mesmerized by giant bubbles. but no, i didn't get to watch that. instead, i saw a couple of teenagers(?) in dorky-looking outfits dancing to some techno/pop songs using moves so simple that even a kindergartner can follow. yeah, they did blew some bubbles, but they first made sure to bore the audience by the longest dance number ever. it was a major flop. they should take the hint and never do it again in succeeding shows/appearances. ho-hum.
naalala ko nung bata pa ko at gusto kong magpalobo, nagdidikdik pa kami ng bulaklak ng gumamela para malagkit yung bula. shampoo lang pala katapat ng lahat ng paghihirap ko.
THE MODERN BALANCER
-
now, this is the man. if you haven't guessed it yet, this guy balances things on a piece of metal stick (torch yata yun... yung pansindi ng candles). he can bounce a beach ball on that stick. now that's talent, right? i wracked my brain for a trick or two in doing that, but no, it looked like genuine equilibrium. now, if he'll only drop that shiny blue costume...
SIDE A
-
so what if this band is composed of 40ish men all experiencing middle age crises (at least the three of them; two members look aroung 30), and if i was surrounded by screaming old women still acting as if they're teenagers? this band rocks. living proof that talent transcends genre, because they can do it all. they did QUEEN so fabulously that if i closed my eyes, it almost seemed like i was listening to the real thing. yes, it was an imitation, but a very good one. any band who can do a perfect bohemian rhapsody earns my respect.
the band has a new guitarist... dunno what happened to kelly, their old guitarist... but the new one plays far better. i think his name is evon. now i really am sure that guys, no matter how neanderthal-looking they may be, as long as they can play the guitar well, can be adonis. em not saying evon is bad-looking... just not that cute... and yet girls (married women in their 30's and 40's) were already taking his picture. he's that good.

WEDNESDAY
-
waited for a concert which never happened. lesson: mind the date. hindi lang oras ang mahalaga, ang petsa rin.
watched constantine to take my mind off matters which will not be disclosed here. hated the movie. anak ng... nasayang kaya pera ko. lalo lang ako naasar. to top it all... there were two lovers there, sitting in the back (didn't you know they had love seats in the premiere area of rp?) and torridly kissing. when they finally finished and left during the middle of the movie, i transferred to their seat, specifically in the spot formerly occupied by the male. to my horror, it was wet, warm, and worst of all, sticky! now, i don't know the consistency of body fluid, the kind that only men can expel, but i sure hope it was not the fluid i sat on. kadire talaga. wish ko lang kape yun. o kaya mushroom soup.
lovers out there, please be reminded that movie houses are public places. the darkness and seclusion of the cornermost seats in the premiere (an hs friend referred to this as "kataas-taasan, kadilim-diliman, kasuluk-sulukang parte ng sinehan") area do not lend you the privacy and the freedom to get jiggy with it. save that for the motels. kaya nga sila nandyan e. anak talaga ng -----. magkaron sana kayo ng urbanidad (sense of propriety).
i could have just let it go if they were adolescentss... at least i could justify the act by saying that they were probably propelled by hormones, so they could not put reins on their libido. but by the looks of them, they seem to be in their mid-20's. no no no no. publicly fornicating adults. no.
keep it down may... tao lang sila.
THURSDAY
sulfur in blue.
